3 Races in 3 Days Challenge
Make the most of every event day by taking our "3 Races in 3 Days Challenge." Kick it off with the 10K Dam Run on Friday night, wake up right with the Lake Lure Triathlon on Saturday morning, and then shut down your vigorous weekend on top of the world – Sunday’s Race to the Rock is 25-mile bike or 5K run that ends with a 7% grade incline straight up to victory on the summit of Chimney Rock. Or, go the extra mile(s) and add in the open water swim race.
Heralded as one of “America’s Best Lakes” by USA TODAY, Lake Lure, North Carolina is home to the Lake Lure Olympiad Sports Festival. Year after year, athletes rave about the area’s scenic beauty, delicious finish line food, and countless welcoming volunteers that all make the Olympiad experience truly special and unique.
The grand mountain setting serves as both a place to compete and a fun summer getaway spot
Celebrating its 13th year, the Lake Lure Olympiad is a nonprofit organization that has given back more than $250,000 to community charities. Hosted by Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park, with support from Rutherford Regional Health System, the races AND the views will take your breath away.
Bring your kids and let them earn medals, too. The Lake Lure Olympiad offers many events for kids ages 4-14 including: 40-yard dash, soccer kicks, obstacle course, baseball throw, basketball toss and standing broad jump.

Just like the 5K run, this event is unique in that athletes choose one or the other, but both races end with an intense 7-9% grade incline that finishes at the base of 315-foot-tall Chimney Rock. Again, it’s your only chance to run or cycle up to Chimney Rock all year.
The 25-Mile Bike event begins bright and early at 7:30 AM just outside the Chimney Rock Park entrance, traveling 22 miles. It starts east on 64/74A, turns left onto Bills Creek Road by the Library, left again onto Buffalo Creek Road by Dalton’s Store and eventually merges into Buffalo Shoals Road along Lake Lure’s eastern shore. It re-enters Route 64/74A with a right turn back to quaint Chimney Rock Village, where a left turn into the park entrance starts your last 3 epic miles straight up to Chimney Rock.
