Description
The 2nd annual Fit Family 5K is for runners and walkers of all levels and ages. A one-mile fun run around Hanes Park is a flat course ideal for children of all ages and abilities. The 5K course begins near the William G. White Family YMCA on West End Boulevard and climbs through the West Highlands and into Buena Vista where it turns back at the halfway point for a downhill, fast finish at the YMCA on West End Blvd. Given that the course is USATF certified, final run times are eligible for state and national records. This family-friendly event includes a post-race party sponsored by Forsyth Medical Center.

Girls on the Run is an internationally acclaimed program designed to build self-awareness, self-esteem, and to improve health habits and fitness for 3rd through 8th grade girls.

The Fit Family 5K course is a USATF certified course.
Minimum Age:
The minimum age allowed for participating in the Fit Family Fun Run is 4. Small children and babies do not need to register but are welcome to participate with an adult (strollers are welcome!)
Parking:
Parking for the event will be allowed at the YMCA, Hanes Park tennis courts, and Brunson Elementary.
Timing System:
The Fit Family 5K will be timed using the ChampionChip Timing Method.
