Savageman 30.0

Tentative date for 2015 is  September 19th!

Registration opens 1 November 2014!

Deep Creek Lake and the pristine, rugged Allegheny Mountains of western Maryland, provide a venue of unmatched beauty and stunning scenery, and feature two courses that will certainly bring out the true "Savage" in all who come to conquer, from the competitive Ironman racer to the leisurely back-of-the-pack or novice participant. Whether swimming in crystal clear Deep Creek Lake, riding the smooth, remote, and challenging roads of Garrett County, or running on Deep Creek State Park trails and the surrounding lakeside roads, the SavageMan Triathlon Festival races will challenge and awe every participant.  If such a triathlon event appeals to you then you will love the SavageMan Triathlon Festival.

The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon is an Olympic distance triathlon consisting of a 0.93 mile swim, 22.9 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run. The SavageMan 30.0 provides athletes a shorter, less savage triathlon alternative to the flagship SavageMan 70.0 Triathlon, while still offering all the beauty and just enough of a taste of the hills for SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon athletes to earn their SavageMan pedigree! The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon bike course does not go through Westernport, so there is no Westernport Wall for the SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon athletes.

Take a sneak peak at some Savageman 70.0 2013 race footage HERE.

AQUA BIKE Category is available for Men & Women!

SAVAGEMAN DOUBLE 100.00 Want to do the double, Register for the 70.00 FIRST and then there will be an add on to do the 30.00 for only $50.00 more! Please email us at and let us know you are doing the DOUBLE!

The best spectator locations are within Deep Creek Lake State Park itself.  Once you park your car inside the park you can walk to the transition area, finish line, swim start, and swim finish in minutes.  Athletes come through this area multiple times throughout the event and there is no need to leave the park.  Other than the Westernport Wall bus shuttle on Sunday, there is no good way to get out and spectate on the bike course either day, so the best thing to do is stay within the park and spectate the swim, bike, and run transitions.

We have a bounce house and bean bag toss for the kids.  We also have coffee and snacks for sale pre-race and BBQ and Ice cream for sale post race.  Between the beach, the action and the toys, kids, athletes and adults will have a good time during the race.

Road Closures:  For the SavageMan 30, Rock Lodge Rd is closed southbound during the bike portion of the event.

Affiliated Charities

This event benefits the Joanna M. Nicolay Research Foundation.

The Savageman Triathlon Festival is proud to support the Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Research Foundation, the voice for melanoma prevention, detection, care and cure.
