TryCharleston Sprint

4/12/2017 - Online registration has closed.  We WILL be accepting late registration this weekend.  All dates, times and locations can be found further down this event page.  The 2017 Event Details are posted above.  Please thoroughly review these details and the information posted below in the Event Logistics as it answers most questions you will have about race weekend. The 2017 Bib List can be found here.

In an effort to eliminate confusion we have made the decision to lengthen the TryCharleston Sprint swim to 750 meters rather than the posted 500 meters. The reason for this change is the 750 meter loop for the International Distance event will be so similar to the 500 meter loop we have concern athletes will be confused as to which buoy to swim toward and around.  Making both events utilize the same course with the sprint doing one loop and the international doing two loops will make it less confusing on the water come race day.  IF FOR ANY REASON YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE SWIMMING THE EXTRA DISTANCE AND WISH TO BE REMOVED FROM THE EVENT SIMPLY USE THE CONTACT US LINK ABOVE AND WE WILL REFUND YOUR ENTRY FEE OR MOVE YOUR ENTRY INTO ANOTHER EVENT.

The TryCharleston International and Sprint triathlons are moving into their eighth year after finiding the perfect solution in year 3 for this point to point event. This course is flat and fast starting with a one-loop swim is held at the KOA campground lake in Mt. Pleasant, SC and will be wetsuit legal. The one-loop bike will take participants on a journey around the area on flat, mostly smooth roads with lots of brand new pavement. The 5K run will be out and back in nature on paved running trails within the Park West Development.

Anyone registering within the final 2 weeks leading up to the event date will not be guaranteed a shirt as orders must be placed at that time.

Event Logistics

Please read through the below to understand the movement and check in of gear and bikes at TryCharleston.  The Event Details contain more thorough information and will be posted at the top of the page.

TryCharleston Event Logistics Description

Due to high traffic volumes along Highway 17, TryCharleston and Mt. Pleasant officials have decided to create a double transition area event. This action will dramatically reduce impact on the local area and create a more enjoyable day for everyone involved. With that said, this double transition area will create some unique challenges for athletes on event day. However, by following a few simple steps and understanding the transportation plan your event day can be relatively stress free.

  1. Transition 1 (Swim to Bike) will be held at the KOA Campground. Athletes will be bused to this area on event morning.
  2. Transition 2 (Bike to Run) will be held across Hwy 17 at the Laurel Hill Primary School. This area will also be site of the finish line and post event celebration.
  3. Parking for the event will be at Cairo Middle School (A short walk from the finish line / Transition 2 areas).
